โซนี่สั่งลุย! ปล่อยกล้องเสมือน VR Headset ต้นปี 2016

Shuhei Yoshida ประธาน Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios แถลงในงาน GDC 2015 เกี่ยวกับอนาคตของกล้อง VR Headset ของโซนี่ ที่มีชื่อว่า Project Morpheus ซึ่งหลังจากเปิดตัวไปเมื่อปีก่อน ข่าวคราวก็ค่อนข้างเงียบหายไปเลย ซึ่งคุณ Shuhei Yoshida ยืนยันว่า ทางโซนี่จะปล่อยกล้อง VR ตัวนี้ออกมาให้ชาว PS4 ได้เล่นกันในช่วงต้นปี 2016 จากการยืนยันผ่านทาง Blog ของโซนี่ PlayStation อีกทางหนึ่งด้วย

ในงานนี้ ทางโซนี่มีการเปลี่ยนแปลงประสิทธิภาพของกล้อง Project Morpheus ให้มากขึ้น โดยเพิ่มความละเอียดจอจาก 720P เป็น 1080P ที่ 1920 x RGB x 1080 เพิ่มขนาดจอเป็น 5.7 นิ้ว และใช้หน้าจอแบบ OLED แทนที่ LCD แบบเก่า และมีความถี่ที่ 120 hz ติดตั้งเซนเซอร์ LEDs ไว้ถึง 9 จุดเพื่อการตรวจจับการเคลื่อนไหวของผู้ใช้อย่างมีประสิทธิภาพขึ้นกว่าเดิม และออกแบบใหม่ให้สามารถสวมและถอดออกได้ง่ายขึ้นด้วย ทั้งนี้ก็เพื่อแข่งกับกล้อง VR ของยี่ห้ออื่นๆที่กำลังมีเพิ่มมากขึ้นเรื่อยๆ

คุณ Shuhei Yoshida เผยว่า กล้องเสมือน VR Headset มันจะเป็นมิติใหม่ของการเล่นเกมในอนาคต ซึ่งทั่วโลกต่างก็จับตามองอย่างมาก มันเป็นนวัตกรรมแห่งอนาคตที่ทำให้ผู้คนได้เล่นเกมและสื่อสารกันผ่านทางโลกเสมือน เหมือนได้เข้าไปอยู่ในเกมจริงๆ โดยนอกจากโซนี่แล้วก็มีบริษัทต่างๆ ที่พัฒนากล้อง VR ออกมาเป็นของตัวเอง ไม่ว่าจะเป็น Samsung, HTC และอื่นๆ

Project Morpheus จะมีรายละเอียดเพิ่มเติมอีกในงาน E3 2015 วันที่ 16-18 มิถุนายน 2015

ทั้งนี้ ภาพถ่ายเซ็ตนี้เป็นผลงานของ เบิร์ท สเติร์น ช่างภาพชาวสหรัฐ เพื่อนำไปใช้ขึ้นปกนิตยสาร Vogue ฉบับเดือนมิถุนายนปี 1962 ซึ่งเป็นภาพถ่ายเซ็ตสุดท้ายของนางแบบชื่อก้องโลก ก่อนที่เธอจะเสียชีวิตอย่างกระทันหันเมื่อเดือนสิงหาคมในปีเดียวกัน

Colombian gangs still run nightmarish 'chop-up' houses

Colombian marines patrol in Buenaventura on March 25, 2014.(Photo: Luis Robayo, AFP/Getty Images)LIMA, Peru — Colombia's peace talks may be advancing, but try telling that to the terrified residents of Buenaventura, the country's largest Pacific port.They continue to live in the constant shadow of rapes, grotesque violence and disappearances carried out by successor groups to the hard-right paramilitary vigilantes who once battled Marxist rebels' fire with fire.In particular, the gangs have become known for their "chop-up" houses, where they use machetes to dismember alive anyone who gets on their wrong side, Human Rights Watch says in a new report.It singles out a trio of rival groups — the Urabeños, Empresa and Autodefensas Gaitanistas — that have turned to organized crime since the "deeply flawed official demobilization" of the paramilitaries a decade ago.Disbanding death squads was intended to be a key step in stopping the South American country's internal conflict that's cost nearly 250,000 lives over the last half-century. The conflict pits the government and the paramilitaries against leftist rebel group the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), with the latter two heavily implicated in the cocaine trade.Buenaventura is a notorious drug-trafficking hub. The right-wing gangs have divided the sprawling port city of 330,000 largely Afro-Colombian residents into three distinct territories with "invisible borders," the report says.For locals, just straying onto the wrong side of the block, in a rival gang's turf, can lead to a grisly death.Living from extortion, drug trafficking and kidnapping, the gangs forcibly recruit kids as young as 10 and have turned large parts of Buenaventura into police no-go zones, Human Rights Watch says.In the past, victims' corpses would often be dumped at sea. But now, to prevent body parts from washing ashore, they are typically buried in clandestine graves.One local who has suffered more than enough is Luz Marina Arbolea, a 74-year-old retired fish seller.In 2010, her son Wilmar, a dockworker, vanished without a trace as he celebrated his 30th birthday early one evening with friends.His body has never been found and no witnesses are willing to come forward, meaning she still does not know what happened to him, never mind why.As if that wasn't enough, his brother Milton, also a dockworker, was shot dead in Buenaventura in 1999, at age 29, in another unresolved crime. And Wilmar's twin Wilber, who ran a fruit stand in the capital Bogota, was murdered last year in that city in an unrelated killing."The pain has broken my soul," Arbolea told GlobalPost. "I learned about Wilmar from my granddaughter. She called to ask where her father was. He had been having a drink with friends and that was the last we heard from him.""Losing one son is more than any mother should have to bear. And then to not even know what's happened has been too much. It has ruined me, made me sick.""They were all hardworking, honest boys. They just wanted to get ahead in life."The government of President Juan Manuel Santos has attempted to retake control of the port since a previous Human Rights Watch report last March.Officials say the deployment of security forces in the city has had some progress bringing crime down and arresting criminals, the Wall Street Journal reported."Every case is moving forward," Luis Gonzalez, head of the attorney general's criminal and forensic branch, told the Journal. "We are here, and we are going to stay."Rights groups have noted some government efforts but say they haven't been enough."A year has passed since the government announced it was going to take action in Buenaventura, and powerful criminal groups are still terrorizing residents," said Jose Miguel Vivanco, Human Rights Watch's Americas director."Government measures have helped reduce violence, but the gangs' brutal control over many neighborhoods remains fundamentally unchanged," Vivanco said.According to Human Rights Watch's numbers:• 32 dismembered bodies have been found since 2013, at least 12 of whom appear to have been killed since its first report on Buenaventura.• 13,682 people were driven from their homes by threats and violence between April and September last year.• There were 96 reported homicides between April and December, down from 150 in the same period of 2013, but still astronomically high for a relatively small city.Vivanco warns that many disappearances may never have been reported because grieving relatives are intimidated into keeping mum.Meanwhile, a single prosecutor in the port city is responsible for investigating a backlog of 400 disappearances. Perhaps unsurprisingly, she has issued just five arrest warrants so far and obtained not a single conviction."The Santos administration is a long way from fulfilling its promise to change conditions in Buenaventura," Vivanco added. "I'm here because you all sacrificed for me."Now the first African-American president of the United States, Obama returns to Selma on Saturday along with thousands of others who have led very different lives because of what happened there 50 years ago.The police attack on civil rights marchers at the Edmund Pettus Bridge led, over time, to the Voting Rights Act of 1965, and a transformation of American politics, government and society itself.Legislation removed barriers that had prevented black people from voting. Millions joined voting rolls across the country, and thousands went on to win elections to offices in city halls, state legislatures, Congress, and, eventually, the White House.Rep. John Lewis, D-Ga., one of those beaten in Selma on March 7, 1965, told USA TODAY that "some of us gave a little blood on that bridge to redeem the soul of America, to make America better."Obama and others attending Selma events this weekend are expected to praise racial progress but also address many remaining challenges. The president and allies have accused some states of seeking to dilute minority votes through voter identification laws and various redistricting plans. The Selma commemoration also takes place amid tense police-minority relations across the country.Still, the events of Selma transformed the nation, including its politics.Black voters, reliably Republican for decades following the Civil War, are now overwhelmingly Democratic. The Republican Party — once anathema in the South — is now predominantly white and dominant in many Southern states. Former president George W. Bush and other Republicans are scheduled to attend this weekend's events in Selma.Coming a year after the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Voting Rights Act of 1965 quickened the pace of integration in the United States, bringing social and economic benefits.Taylor Branch, the author of a three-volume history of Martin Luther King Jr., and the civil rights movement, said it helped de-stigmatize the South, which had suffered economically under the weight of legalized racism. In many ways, Branch said, everyone owes a debt to the black voting rights movement."It wasn't just for black people," he said. " It was about how or democracy functions."Quite a different world from the one that marchers in Selma faced in early 1965.Civil rights groups had been demonstrating for years in Selma and Dallas County, Ala., where only 1% of voting age blacks were registered the vote and white officials worked to keep that number low.During a night demonstration in nearby Marion on Feb. 18, police shot and killed 26-year-old Jimmie Lee Jackson. His death inspired calls for a march from Selma to Montgomery to deliver the voting rights message directly to the Alabama governor, the proto-segregationist George C. Wallace.Organizers set the march for March 7, a Sunday. As marchers crossed the Edmund Pettus Bridge — named for a Confederate general and former Ku Klux Klan leader — they confronted a phalanx of state troopers and sheriff's deputies, some on horseback.When the marchers refused demands to disperse, troopers attacked with billy clubs, bullwhips and tear gas, injuring more than 50 people.Television news cameras captured the attack that galvanized the nation. He died two days later.• March 15: President Lyndon Johnson addressed a joint session of Congress to back new voting rights legislation (and to echo a mantra of the marchers: "We shall overcome").• March 17: U.S. District Judge Frank Johnson cleared the way for the Selma-to-Montgomery march.• March 21: The trek began. It ended four days later at the statehouse in Montgomery with one of King's most famous speeches about the coming victory of voting rights: "How long? Not long! — because the are of the moral universe is long, but it bends towards justice."Johnson signed the Voting Rights Act on Aug. 6, 1965.This weekend, "the world will turn its eyes to Selma again," Obama said last week. He and first lady Michelle Obama are taking daughters Malia and Sasha to the Selma event."Because there are going to be marches for them to march, and struggles for them to fight," Obama said. "And if we've done our job, then that next generation is going to be picking up the torch, as well."
